a. creative work
This is a piece of work I created for a project in Design and Technology during high school. The pouch of the shoulder bag is composed of chip packet bags that have been cut and folded into interlocking pieces which connect to one another, creating the woven appearance of the material. Due to society’s neglection of the planet’s cleanliness and the ignorant attitudes towards the impacts of built up rubbish and waste, we are now facing the consequences of not considering renewable and more eco-friendly options in the past. In today’s society, it is important that we consider designing products, such as this, which recycle materials and aid the process of limiting our waste. Utilising products that reuse and recycle materials can significantly improve the status of our planet and therefore should be a top priority when designing.
b. piece of architecture
This is a design by Ukrainian architect Dmitriy Kuznetsov, called The Royal Villa to be constructed in Miami. The project is intended to look futuristic and is designed to be built on the banks of some body of water, with its structure shaped to imitate the prow of a ship. The structure includes an ample amount of glass to allow for generous amounts of natural light to enter the building. A distinctive feature of this design is the mid-air “floating” glass room suspended over the water from the upper level of the structure.

This picture was taken when I was on holiday to my parents homeland, the Philippines, and can be interpreted to represent two sides of it. The serene blue waters are symbolic of the beautiful and luxurious tropical characteristics of the Philippine islands, which attract tourists from all over the world. However, the Philippines is a third world country, and the reality of hard work and labour that the country’s people experience in their everyday activities can be represented through the boatman’s muscular back and dark complexion, which are a result of his time and efforts spent under the sun.
